Margery Kraus

Founder and Executive Chairwoman

Margery Kraus is the founder and executive chairwoman of APCO Worldwide, a global advisory and advocacy consultancy headquartered in Washington, D.C. She established APCO in 1984, transforming it from a single office into a multinational firm with a presence across the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia.

Kraus holds both bachelor's and master's degrees in political science and public law. Before founding APCO, she contributed to the creation and development of the Close Up Foundation, a multimillion-dollar educational organization.

Throughout her career, Kraus has been recognized with numerous awards, including induction into the PRWeek Hall of Femme and receiving the Institute for Public Relations' Alexander Hamilton Medal.

In addition to her role at APCO, Kraus serves on various corporate and nonprofit boards and committees. She is the chairman of the board of the Women Presidents’ Organization and a trustee of American University.

Kraus is also the author of Roots and Wings: Ten Lessons of Motherhood That Helped Me Create and Run a Company, reflecting on her experiences in balancing family life with building a successful enterprise.
